Résumé du poste
Law Clerk | In-House Legal Team Ontario | Primarily Remote Our client is looking to add a Law Clerk to its Canadian legal team, working directly with Legal Counsel and supporting a growing international business. This is an opportunity for a Law Clerk with around 2+ years’ experience who wants to move closer to the business and build broader in-house experience. You may currently be supporting a corporate or commercial practice within a law firm, or already working in-house and looking for a role with greater exposure and ownership. The opportunity Rather than supporting a large group of lawyers or working on one narrow area, you'll work closely with Senior Legal Counsel across the day-to-day legal needs of the Canadian business. You'll gain exposure to commercial contracts, corporate governance and legal operations, while working directly with stakeholders across the organization. The team operates primarily remotely across Ontario, with occasional in-office attendance when required. What you'll be doing A significant part of the role will involve helping keep contracts and legal matters moving. You'll: Review and proofread commercial contracts and legal documents, providing initial comments where appropriate. Help manage contracts from draft through signature and final storage. Track legal matters and documentation through the company's legal portal. Work with internal stakeholders to gather information and help respond to routine legal requests. Prepare initial drafts and supporting materials for Legal Counsel. Assist with corporate records, minutes, resolutions and other governance matters. Maintain organized legal files and documentation. Support Legal Counsel on other commercial and corporate matters as they arise. Who we're looking for We're particularly interested in speaking with Law Clerks who have 2+ years of experience within the corporate department of a law firm or an in-house legal team. You'll likely have a Law Clerk diploma or equivalent qualification and be comfortable working with contracts, documents and competing deadlines. Commercial contracts or corporate law experience would be particularly useful, but you don't need to have done everything listed above. More important is that you're organized, detail-oriented and comfortable taking ownership of your work without needing someone looking over your shoulder. Why consider it? If you're currently in private practice, this is an opportunity to see what happens to legal work after it leaves the lawyer's desk — working directly with the business and following matters through to completion. If you're already in-house, it offers the chance to broaden your experience across contracts, corporate matters and legal operations while working closely with Legal Counsel. You'll join an international organization while remaining part of a relatively close Canadian legal function, with the flexibility of a primarily remote role in Ontario.
