Charger Logistics is seeking an experienced Senior Law Clerk to join our in-house Legal Department. The employee will work closely with in-house counsel and outside counsel in managing and supporting the Canadian litigation portfolio, including commercial, transportation, insurance, personal-injury, employment and other corporate litigation matters. Key Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day administration of the litigation portfolio from commencement through resolution. Maintain complete files, case summaries, calendars, limitation periods and critical deadlines. Track pleadings, documentary discovery, examinations for discovery, undertakings, mediations, motions, trials and settlements. Under lawyer supervision, prepare first drafts of pleadings, affidavits, notices, correspondence, statements of defence, responding materials, motion materials and other litigation documents. Assist with documentary discovery, affidavits of documents, undertakings/refusals and collection/review/production of company records. Prepare chronologies, document summaries, exhibits, briefs and litigation binders and assist with filing/service. Assist with investigation and management of transportation, personal-injury, property-damage and other claims. Coordinate preservation and collection of driver, vehicle, maintenance, dispatch, telematics, video, accident and other operational evidence. Review and summarize medical records, accident documentation and expert reports. Serve as a central coordination point with external litigation firms, monitor deadlines and outstanding company requirements, assist with litigation budgets/outside counsel invoices, and coordinate witnesses, examinations, mediations, experts and trial preparation. Prepare regular litigation reports/dashboards for in-house counsel and management. Law Clerk diploma or paralegal credential from a recognized program; ILCO; LSO License membership an asset. 5+ years of litigation experience as a paralegal, law clerk or litigation professional. Experience at a recognized litigation firm, insurer or corporate legal department preferred. Commercial litigation, insurance defence, personal-injury defence or transportation litigation experience is highly desirable. Strong Ontario civil litigation knowledge, pleadings/discovery experience, drafting skills, deadline management and ability to manage numerous active matters are important. Strong legal research and drafting skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, team work. Familiarity with employment/labour tribunals and cross-border or regulatory matters is an asset. Industry knowledge in logistics, transportation, commercial finance/leasing, and real estate is an asset. Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume, multi-file caseload while collaborating with internal stakeholders. High attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion.
